The French 75 (Standard)

I need to specify this drink as being "standard" because apparently Chris and I have long been making a version of the French 75 that's a bit more, um, potent. Which would explain a lot. We were happy to try this version, which is a nice, light cocktail for a celebratory evening of any sort.

from The Joy of Mixology

(for one serving)

1/2 tsp. simple syrup

1/2 oz. lemon juice

1 oz. gin

4 oz. chilled champagne

- Build in order given in a collins (or "low-ball") glass with ice.

- Stir briefly and garnish with cherry.
