The Margarita

This cocktail has a little bit of a "melt-your-face" quality, especially if you're making enough to fill one of those huge honking margarita glasses. I'm one of those people who needs to taste the tequila in my margarita rather than covering it up - it helps me remember not to have a second one.

Check out the gorgeous margarita glasses our friend Mikey got us!

The Margarita
for 2

salt to rim glasses

juice 1 1/2 limes
3 (scant) shots tequila
1 shot triple sec
1 (scant) shot water
3 tsps. sugar
pinch of salt

- Squeeze lime juice into cocktail shaker. Save two lime quarters after you've squeezed out the juice - squeeze the lime around the rim of your glasses and dip in salt (I scatter salt on a plate and plant the glass downard on top to achieve salt rim), then add one lime quarter to each glass.
- Add ice to glasses and to cocktail shaker.
- Combine remaining ingredients to cockail shaker.
- Shake till combined and split between glasses.

*If you're making enough for two large glasses, increase everything by half (1.5 shots triple sec, 4.5 tsps. sugar, etc.)
