Basic Simple Syrup
Our friend Megan was the first one to teach me that making simple syrup was, in fact, simple (I totally didn't believe her at the time). You can find simple syrup in stores, but it's easier and much cheaper to make it yourself. Make a larger batch and use an empty liqueur bottle or something to store the syrup in.
Simple Syrup
(to make 1 1/2 cups)
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
- Combine ingredients in a small saucepan.
- Stir constantly over low heat until sugar is completely dissolved and syrup has become clear. Do not allow to boil.
- Remove from heat and allow to cool before using in drinks.
That's really it. To make more or less, just keep the proportions at 1 to 1.
